Science Made Beerable Inc. was established to advance public education and appreciation of brewing science whilst promoting diversity within the brewing industry.

KELSEY PICARD
Co-President, Public Officer
Kelsey is a beer obsessed plant scientist whose love of beer extends beyond just drinking it! From the sexual biology of hop plants, to the sugar chemistry changes in a germinating barley grain, plant science plays a huge role in the production of beer. Kelsey enjoys a fruity sour or a resinous IPA and is fascinated by the complex flavours that can be produced with just four ingredients.

Mid-strength IPA with hop flavours that still pack a punch e.g. Hobart Brewing Co. Little Pine
Matt FIELDING
Co-President, Treasurer
Matt is a Teaching Fellow in Science at UTAS and a massive beer nerd. When he's not in the Tasmanian wilderness behind a pair of binoculars, he's likely got a craft beer in his hands. His interest in brewing science started after he plunged into the world of home-brewing, which uncovered the incredible complexity behind that delicious liquid we call beer.
Favourite Beer or Style
Either a banana-heavy Bavarian hefeweizen or a crisp lager from local breweries Spotty Dog or The Albert.
RICHARD NORTHAM
Secretary
Richard is the head brewer and co-founder of the Frogs Hollow Brewing Co, an off grid brewery on the far south coast of NSW. Prior to becoming a professional brewer, Richard worked in Information Technology in the Higher Education and Research sector. As an engineer, he loves to get into the science and engineering around brewing beer and the systems/equipment used in its creation.
Favourite Beer or Style
When he’s not brewing, he can be found enjoying an English style IPA, a nice malty Red Ale or a Belgium Witbier.
ABBY FIELDING
General Committee Member
Guilty by association, Abby was converted from wine to beer when she discovered big juicy hazy beers, coincidentally around the same time that she met co-founder Matt. When she’s not with their young family or working in her job in mental health, you’ll find her sipping on an oat cream IPA, the more Sabro the better!

Any Oat Cream IPA or Hazy IPA with a heavy hand of Sabro hops!
